About
One chess fan, one free tool
I'm Bpking. I am a life-long avid chess player. I mostly play blitz and love the opening phase of the game in particular. I would purchase courses, study them deeply, and think I am well prepared. However, quite often the opponent hasn't studied that deep and plays a mistake in opening. In such cases, there are tactics that the opening courses do not teach. I thought there must be a better way to quickly ID those mistakes and punish them. I checked around and didn't find any good resources, so I decided to create it. So here we are. I also wanted to allow all of my fellow opening enthusiasts to benefit from it. So I have made it free and open to all. I hope you enjoy it.
I am also a chess author. I turned one of my favorite rare openings into a Chessable course. Much time and effort was spent on creating the course on the Old Benoni. If you like to take your opponent out of book early, I think you will enjoy it.
The Old Benoni: Mujannah Formation
1.d4 c5 2.d5 f5
A full Black repertoire against 1.d4 that leaves the well-trodden lines on move two. Your opponent is on their own early, which is exactly where Opening Punisher does its best work.

- This site. I am continuing to improve Opening Punisher. More features and fixes are on the way.
- An opening course for White vs. the KID. Besides my Old Benoni course, I have another course in the works. Hopefully you will see it early next year.
- A new chess site. Another chess tool, focused on middlegame principles and imbalance training. It's an area I consider my weakness (other than losing on time). I built it for myself because it didn't exist. And if it's good enough, I'll share it with you all later.
- A course for Black against 1.e4. Further out. Possible release in 2028.
What it does
It reads games you or another player have already published on Lichess or Chess.com and runs a chess engine over the first twelve moves.
- Punisher. Finds the moments an opponent blundered in the opening and you did not take it, and turns each one into a puzzle with the engine's punishing line behind it.
- Scout. The same scan on an opponent: where they go wrong early, and which of those mistakes nobody has punished yet.
- Clash. Your opening tree against theirs, walked a move at a time, the games you are likely to end up in, and which of you is on your own first.
- Explorer. A live opening explorer over any Lichess player, the community database, or the masters.
Why it is free
Because I wanted to share it. There is no paid tier and nothing is locked behind a sign-up. An account is optional, it only buys you saving your work across devices. Without one, everything still works and nothing leaves your browser session.
The engine is Stockfish, running in your own browser. Your games are downloaded from the platform you name, straight to you. What is stored, and where, is set out plainly in the Privacy policy.
What it is not
- Not affiliated with Lichess, Chess.com or Chessable. It uses the platforms' public interfaces, as any app may.
- Not a tool for use during a live game. It studies games that are already over, and every platform bans engine help in a game that is not.
- Not a promise. It is one person's project and it can break. If it does, tell me.
